Neuroimaging
Neuroimaging research in epilepsy in Liverpool is led by Dr Simon Keller. Most of this research is performed using MRI scans in people with epilepsy to achieve the following:
- To understand how brain structure and function may be affected in epilepsy.
- To help improve the quality of MRI scans that people with epilepsy receive.
- To further understand why some people with epilepsy have problems with memory and other aspects of cognition.
- To use MRI scans to try and predict patient outcomes after treatment with anti-epileptic drugs and brain surgery.
Simon leads the Liverpool Brain Research using Advanced Imaging in Neurology (BRAIN) lab. More information can be found here.
